Dr. Alisha Hartwig

VETERINARIAN

I grew up on a hobby farm outside of Kingston, consisting of two retired racehorses, two goats, lots of pocket pets and a cat. I enjoyed caring for animals from a young age and knew I would end up in the veterinary field! I have a keen passion for wildlife medicine and have travelled to Australia to volunteer at a koala sanctuary and have also worked alongside wildlife veterinarians in Africa treating cheetahs, zebras, wild buffalo and orphaned baboons.

One of the driving forces for me to become a veterinarian was when I volunteered for CARD (Community Association for Riders with Disabilities) and saw first-hand how therapeutic the human-animal bond can be. That is why I am thrilled to be in this profession, where I can treat animals and promote the bond between their caregivers. I graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2020 and have a passion for fear-free medicine. In my spare time, I enjoy riding my bike, exploring outdoors and travelling.
